We are making plans for a more sustainable future…

In our Kitchens - we are implementing greater food & drink efficiencies - We are in the process of implementing measures to reduce waste. We will be introducing of tighter controls on food waste and developing symbiotic dishes that jointly utilise more and create less waste. In the bar we will be installing draught systems to reduce glass waste on our lines of beer, lager and soft drinks.

In our boiler rooms - We have recently completed major insulation works to 80% of the property, including all roof spaces and between all floors. In addition to this regularly manage and limit energy consumptions to suit our occupancy rates. It may look like the lights keep going off, but when no ones in we don’t waste energy. With an entire over hall of the electricals and wiring within the house we now run solely on LED bulbs - no mean feat considering how many chandeliers the place has.

In our grounds - Waste not wont not was always the saying in our house. For both departments, with the creation of closed composting we will be able to recycle organic waste more effectively. We will also be installing a cardboard bailing system so that our cardboard waste can be bailed and sold for specific recycling rather than mixed. We recycle and compost all organic waste. We upcycle all of our green garden waste taking timber chipping to create woodland walk ways and mulch for beddings.

As mentioned in the above projects 2022 saw us complete our first Grant funded project.

A three year project to refurbish key spaces within Highfield, opening it up for greater use with additional accommodation and improved facilities.

We were very fortunate to receive part funding assistance from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and a great deal of support from our fabulous team of contractors and suppliers. Many thanks to all involved.
