ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Welcome to HIGHFIELD

Stay

Laundry

We launder all of our linen on site. We actively request that guests make it clear which towels they have used during their stay so that only dirty linen is laundered.

Energy

We kindly request guests to turn off lights and appliances whilst they are not in their rooms.

All of our rooms have been refurbished to the highest standards of insulation to improve energy efficiency. All lights within the property have been converted to LED and where possible appliances throughout are LED and energy saving. To water our gardens we harvest rain water, to feed our plants we compost green organic waste.

Future projects will hopefully see the installation of solar panels to enable portions of the property to become reliant only on green energy.

Dine

Food Miles

Where possible we source our produce from local suppliers. We keep our delivery frequency low to reduce carbon emissions. Where possible we forage within our woodlands for fresh produce.

Food Waste

Green organic food waste is composted on site and utilised to feed our vegetables and gardens. Waste oil is collected and recycled into fuels.

Future projects will hopefully see the introduction of chickens to the property which will not only reduce our food miles but also our food waste.

Recycling

We work with the local council to ensure the best possible levels of recycling. Much of our cardboard waste is mulched and utilised within our gardening projects and composting exercises.

Explore

Woodlands

Our woodlands are a great source of inspiration and connection with ecology. The management of these woodlands sees upcycling of trees, that need to be felled, as restaurant platters, outdoor tables, shelving furniture and bed posts…
