How to Plan an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Are you throwing an Alice in Wonderland tea party? Don't look any further! We're going to share the cutest tea party influenced by the vibrant Alice in Wonderland. This tea party is ideal for children, teenagers, and even adults who enjoy a festive and fun party theme!

Since Lewis Carroll's original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book was published in 1865, Alice in Wonderland has been a favourite of both children and adults. This was only magnified when accompanied by the classic Disney animation from the 1950s. The fantasy theme and surreality, coupled with the nonsensical vocabulary and rhymes, insane character types, and rich visual elements, ensure that Alice in Wonderland remains as popular today as it has always been. So how do you throw a tea party that will wow your guests with wonder?

Choose a Wonderland Location

At Highfield we have indoor and outdoor facilities, making us an ideal location for Alice in Wonderland inspired tea parties. Our 8 acres of ancient woodlands and manicured grounds can be transformed into lavish enchanted forests. Why not turn your guests' imaginations wild by placing signs on the trees for your guests to follow and hide your Cheshire cat somewhere in the woods.

If the weather doesn’t go to plan on the day, there is no need to worry. Our indoor rooms are just as magical as our grounds. Our Grand Hall can be transformed into the Mad Hatters tea party with our long table, which can be covered with a tablecloth and decorated with teapots and saucers for your tea cups. Not to mention all the sweet treats. We do have a grazing board menu which would be perfect!

Eat Me Afternoon Tea

In Alice in Wonderland, one of the most memorable scenes in the film was the Mad Hatter's tea party, and your afternoon tea should be no different. At Highfield we are passionate about seasonal and regional produce, gathering produce from our kitchen gardens and sourcing from East Yorkshire's best farmers, creators, and suppliers. Nathan Carlisle, our chef, creates dishes for a rotating menu of classics ranging from Sunday dinner and afternoon tea to special event feasts.

Our afternoon teas are thoughtfully put together for your enjoyment. Not only do we offer traditional sandwiches, scones and cakes. But we also make sure that everyone can get a taste of our gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and keto options.

Drink Me Cocktails

Tea must, of course, be served at a tea party. However, for parties where children may be present, it is always a good idea to have some juice on hand, as well as a variety of cocktails for the adults. When our Library Bar opens your guests can treat themselves to a bit of madness with our drink my cocktails. We will also soon have a gin palace on the grounds, for you and your guests to explore.

Make sure your guests aren’t late for the very important date by sending out invitations.
